Online class and Student's responsibility

'Online Class and Students responsibility' is really very challenging topic in the higher education system. The students attendance is considerably poor in the regular classes since many year. Most of the students (not all)  are thinking that they are able to qualify the exam even after not attending the classes. The HOD of the department never concerned to this matter as they are not free from their works. Most appropriately the Higher Education system is busy in transformation of its great teaching resources to the graded clerk! Mainly works of the HOD's are confined to attending meetings, staff Council meetings, NAAC, Sports, Day Scholar Competition, Hostel Superintending and so on.... In Private Colleges and aided colleges the work further squeezes. Lecturers enjoys optimum privileges. Their sincere effort is very admirable in evaluation of internal marks.
The students are trying to en-cash the mis-opportunities! They started to cheat by not attending the classes and cheating themselves. Many of them are thinking that they have Google Access and they can download the Pdf files.No need to listen the Lecturer. Neither the Lecturer nor the Student are serious in this process.
I was earlier thinking that travel from distance might be cause for the absent. During the Lock Down period for COVID-19 I voluntarily started teaching the students online. but the result is same as before! The students who were regular in physical Class they are attending the Online too! I get astonished when I came to know the students are having High-ended Mobile phones they remain away from the virtual classes!
It may conclude that Learning is a thirst, teacher is the container who carries the nectar. Only eligible candidates can have it and shape their future and rest shall be in dark. It is quite unfortunate not attending the on line classes and expecting the best from life.

Getting Tired

This is perhaps a very odd time in the human history. Earlier the world had experienced many types of natural disasters and people started suffering in many way. This time is critically different from other earlier events. People of entire world scared. they started living in isolation. For the first time many new things appear to the scene. People become static not by will but by force. The thing is simple in a complicated way. For the first time the word Quarantine become so popular that made the society awake to protect another society. The Novel corona Virus infection is just like a curse on the entire humanity. Several assumption are made to know the origin of the Virus and its causes and processes of evolution; but till now the entire world is under severe pressure.
In the process of combating the diseases Government of India has taken several precautionary measures. Many successful steps were taken to protect the life and property of people but the common people are not in mood to isolate themselves in this way. They seek to enjoy freedom to move freedom to make association and talk to all and so on... The situation never allow the mass to live in a gathered life.
The Problem is not the COVID-19 but the issue is more related to the consequences of this! Yes, when the people remain inactive in many way how they shall look after the life after the Lock down is over!
Global market trade and commerce highly affected by this great Pandemic outbreak of Corona. The most critical situation is going to affect the small and medium industries. The Corona virus will certainly affect the Supply Chain management. The second most affected sector will be the educational sector. The teachers and students will de-linked as they lacking the opportunity to join in a class. Further teachers are the group of people who lives on the contribution of the students. Many teachers are engaged in Government sectors but a large group remain out of the great group. they are working as the part time teachers, Guest lecturers, Contractual Teachers, Private Coaching masters and so on. WHO SHALL TAKE CARE OF THE SECOND GROUP? is emerged as a great question. No body is thinking about it. The catastrophe will be there if the teachers shift to another profession or left the teaching due to lack of money.   

Guest Faculty System in Higher Education Department.

Higher education system is always considered as an important part of the entire education of someone's life. Soon after someone get qualified from college; he is considered a bit ahead of the society. Many students are also successfully completes their Graduation and Post Graduation in different streams.

In Odisha, there are many Government,  Non- Government, Grant in aid and autonomous colleges are imparting quality education. the most astonishing fact is the students are also doing well in examination and as well as in their post college life. Many of the students have successfully established in different private and public sectors. some are even had cracked the Civil Services and other examinations of National Importance.

The plight is availability of Teaching faculty. The Government of Odisha is remain silence for more than a decade. It never appointed the Lecturers. Further the condition worsen when some colleges enjoyed autonomy in expansion in departments and increasing the number of students. To impart good education to the full strength the Colleges decided to appoint the Guest Faculties to manage the classes. They are permitted to take 40 classes in maximum and against that they could be remunerated by 20,000 Rupees. the provision has changed and according to the new policy the Guest Faculties are allowed to take 50 Classes and they shall get Rupees 25,000/- in Maximum per month. but the ground reality was different. The Guest Faculties are energetic and Young talented people. They are in preparation of several competitive exams. taking this opportunity the H.O.D.'s of several department enjoyed enormous privileges.  Now they usually came to college by 12.30 and left college by 2.00 PM, but the Guest Faculty was informed to open the classroom by 11:00 AM and Close by 4:00 PM and adjust all the classes. This condition changed in 2019 with the introduction of Biomatric reader. the HODs become alert and reported by 10:00 AM and remain present till 5:00 PM. This system made the cheater teaching Community fix at their offices but this could not exercise any force to take classes. The guest faculties are still taking maximum classes but only allowed to register the directed numbers of classes. The HOD is the signing authority so no Guest Faculties can raise their voices and show more classes.
Guest faculties are working tirelessly. each day they are reading many books prepare notes and take classes. They are having a fear that if they proved inefficient then they might be disengaged. That is the only cause for why the students are doing well in examination and again the teachers are taking their credit. But the Guest faculties are living in very poor condition. neither the teachers, nor the government or the policy makers are thinking about them.
